Dear all,
Our project “Life of Paper” is coming to an end, and we are slowly wrapping it up. Currently, we are working on our conference proceedings “Use and Reuse of Paper in the Pre-Industrial World”, which will be published in the Library of the Written Word-series with Brill later this year. Some of the articles will be in Open Access. We’ll keep you posted!
We were also busy with translating previous blogposts, as you may have noticed. And we have created a small video of our FTIR-spectroscopic analysis of paper in Icelandic charter copies, books and manuscripts.
The ingenious Halla Oddný Magnúsdóttir wrote the script, including choosing the music, and did the voice-over; cameraman was Árnastofnun’s most talented photographer Sigurður Stefán Jónsson, and the two of them were also responsible for cutting the film. Stars of the video are, apart from the manuscripts, project leader Beeke Stegmann, and Patrick Layton. Much of the video is in Icelandic, but the technical description by Patrick is in English. In case you are hard of hearing or are not fluent in Icelandic, we have subtitles to assist you, and in case you do not speak Icelandic, seeing manuscripts (and us) should be reason enough to watch it. Enjoy!
